Mark Anderson is a pathologists’ assistant at Pathology Associates. He completed his B.S. degree from Brigham Young University in Clinical Laboratory Science in 1993. In 1997, he received his M.H.S. degree in pathology from Quinniapiac University located in Hamden, Connecticut. His studies at Quinniapiac included class work and rotations in many pathology departments including: St. Vincent’s Hospital, Norwalk Hospital, Stamford Hospital, Yale New Haven Medical Center, University of Connecticut Medical Center, and the V.A. Medical center in West Haven, Connecticut. He also rotated at the Connecticut State Medical Examiner’s office.
Mark gained a wealth of experience as a pathologists’ assistant at the University of Utah Medical Center. His work there included supervision and training of residents and medical students. Mark was the supervisor of the Gross Room where all surgical dissection and frozen sections were performed. He also supervised and assisted the training of residents in autopsy services.
Mark earned his certification through American Society for Clinical Pathology and is a member of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants where he serves on their website and conference committees. He has worked with Pathology Associates since 1999 where he is the “backbone” of macroscopic specimen analysis.
Mark and his wife, Carol, have five children and enjoy family activities. Mark, having earned his eagle scout as a youth, continues to volunteer in the scouting program in a variety of age groups. Mark speaks Portuguese, which he learned while serving a church mission in Brazil. Mark loves music and is learning to play the guitar. His other main hobby is golf, which he plays whenever possible.
